Welcome to Rutland Fire District
The Rutland Fire district was established in 1957 and is the authority having jurisdiction over fire and emergency services in the town of Rutland and is comprised of the Board of Fire Commissioners, The Rutland Volunteer Fire Company, and the Felts Mills Volunteer Fire Company.
The Board of Fire Commissioners is a five member board with one member being elected every year in December and serving a five year term.
The Rutland Volunteer Fire Company is a 100% volunteer organization formed in 1957. We operate under the jurisdiction of the Rutland Fire District. In 2011 the Tylerville Volunteer Fire Company was merged into the Rutland Fire Company. We currently operate out of two stations with the headquarters, Station One, being located on State Route 126 in Rutland Center and the other, Station Two, located on County Route 69 in Tylerville. We have 29 members on our active roster who respond at all times of the day and night to all types of emergencies and calls for assistance.
Our services include response to all nature of fires (Structural, Wildland, Vehicular, and all other types), Motor Vehicle Accidents, Rescues, Hazardous Materials – operations level, natural disasters, emergency medical services – non-transporting, and most any other hazard or emergency you can think of.
Station one currently houses one engine, one tanker, one rescue, and one utility/brush unit.
Station two currently houses one engine and one tanker.
Both our engines, our rescue, and our utility/brush unit are equipped with basic life support equipment and AEDs for response to medical emergencies and we have 3 NYS certified EMS providers.
